i have really good internet here so there are alot of new posts WITH PICTURES. This is not normal though so dont get used to it. Unfortunately i dont have the pictures from when my parents were here so nothing on that (to come soon). but i got some old gems in there. I am currently at the training for all the newbs. I have already been here a year (weird) and am giving seminars to the rookies - seems hard to believe they are letting me train and influence any new volunteers but i promised to cut my hair and shave for it. Sound like selling out? Maybe, but soccer season is now in full swing and no hair allows me to go just that many more days without showering. Other than that: i met some Spaniards who work at the Spanish embassy in Almaty. They are bueno. Last night we went to a club called "Da Freak" (i couldnt have been more pleased with the name) and i pretty much spent an entire night gettin my eagle on yelling "QUE PASA!?!?" to my new spanish friends. Ill be here at the training site for the next few days - so try and catch me online. Plus i can video chat here (the things these young kids have...back in my day we had to take an hour bus and then walk 45 min to get internet.) 2 dolla no holllaaaaaaaaaaa
also...peep this number. As i was meeting all the newbs yesterday, one of them asks me if i am "dave from australia?". "you know it, hannnnooooon" i say. "well, laurel says hello". Say whaaaa. apparently he went to school with a girl i knew from study abroad. small world. THEN as i was explaining my background, another volunteer starts eyeballin me. She approached me after and turns out we not only worked at the same camp (philmont) in New Mexico...BUT she was a ranger that brought crews to my camp at least 12 times (which is wild because there are hundreds of employees at this place). and here we are meeting all back in kazakhstan of all places. you just blew my mind. late.
