On a warm sunny day in east lansing, a man named Ben Main once told me a tale. Ben Main is a epic man both in the classroom and on the river behind a wake. Anyway the story he related to me was of the proportion you would expect to come from this caliber of dude. While hanging out with some fellow bro dudes to witness this feat he threw a basketball out of his second story window and made a basket in a near by hoop...yeah word, right?! Ben told me that this was his sports pinnacle that transcends time and space. I started thinking about what my one great sports moment was. Doug Flutie has his hail mary, Wilt Chamberlain has his 100 point game, Secretariat has the Triple Crown, Henry Rowengartner has the Chet Steadman strike out etc. I have nothing. I mean i have more than my fair share of memories of throwing up during a cross country race, or tripping over hurdles but nothing great...until today. I was walking to work and i passed a group of kids in the street playing basketball on a makeshift hoop attached to a large electrical box...yeah you know where this is going. They asked me to play but i said i didnt have time so i just kept on walking - but then it happened, fate intervened, one of the boys called after me and threw the ball at me. I accepted the pass from this agent of destiny. With many people watching in the street i braved possible humiliation and threw up a prayer from what would be a half court shot. Were there angels in the street this day? ill never know...but there i stood in my work clothes, rockin my kahkis with a cuff and a crease, backpack and all, watching the ball - nothing but net. no words need be spoken. i turned and walked on. legend has it that a babooshka watching on from a nearby window saw this moment and shed a single tear of gratitude for bearing witness.
i was later bit by a dog. ended the day .500 ill take it

Hahahahaha!!!! Was your previous clame to fame bearfooting behind the boat upnorth, later being called out by jimbo infront of grandma rose causing a chain reaction of upset aunts and mothers? You know what i'm talking about. No need for "little" details.
from our shared experiences at IM circle, david, I would've thought that half-courters were your specialty. Seriously, congratulations. Next time, grab your crotch after and say an "Our Father".
You are a legend.

p.s. Never shoot again.
