its a celebration...

Our organization was awarded some money from the local government so we put on a carnival at the town square for Children’s Day, which was June 2. It was a huge hit and pretty much every kid in Aca came out for it. This was also a test for launching our photo business. We had recently purchased a digital camera with a grant and were excited to put it to use. Pictures are a big deal in this culture. When you are a guest at someone’s house they will without fail show you their picture album. The demand for pictures is therefore pretty much inelastic. Digital cameras are rare however and in Aca there aren’t really any developing studios. Enter us (the wu). The business plan is to make some money to sustain some of the programs at our organization, teach about photography and give some kids work. We are teaching some of our kids how to use the camera, photoshop the pictures, and then sell them. If this first day was any judge it will be a very lucrative project. Plus we also had a girl enter the picture with the flags into a city photo contest and win.
