Community Project

Because teachers always had classes and maybe a loss of confidence in our computer skills we decided to explore other ways we could help the school. One teacher was doing a lesson about how Kazakhstan is now a sovereign state and as such is integrating into the global community so she had us come into her class and show evidence of this globalization. Another group of classes was doing a segment on world languages so we prepared a presentation about English. We were pretty unclear about what they wanted but settled on doing “head, shoulders, knees and toes” and “the hokey pokey” to teach English words for body parts. It went over better than we could have imagined. They were having some sort of assembly when they had us come in and the kids loved it – the teachers were all dying laughing and I’ve heard that they even ran an article about it in the local paper.
