I cant say enough good things about this place. Also - having a local friend, or a friend who is immersed in the area/ culture is infinitely better than being a tourist, i still cant get over how cool it is to be in this completely different place being led around by my buddy. Advice: if you know somebody abroad and have the opportunity to visit them, not going would be a tremendous waste, and that is completely sincere and not just soliciting for visitors for myself. Last night we hit the city with some locals, had grilled squid and beer (killer combo), soju (just plain killer) and kicked it with a large Korean man named Blue Dragon Ha who liked to pet my head. In short, Ando is a king here. He taught himself Korean and is loved by everyone. Today i hung at his work for a while which was rad. The kids are so funny and Ando is such a good teacher. He gives them all American names which is hilarious (they apparently refused the names Rasheed, Chauncey and Jimbo though). The kids are smart and speak really well. And its not a school, its like an after school institute. The culture here is very interesting in that people work like animals. Vacations and even weekends are pretty rare. Kids study from pretty much 7am until 10 at night. yep a quick check to Wikipedia and it appears that Korea holds the number 1 spot for annual hours worked according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. (God it feels good to be back with full internet access)
tonight's plan: acquire a new anderson when dave's little brother tommy flies in and cure him of his jetlag. Again - bring on the atlasphere.
