Sponsorship Program

So i have been kicking around this idea of starting a sponsorship program with some of the handicapped children in Aca. In December we started our Volunteer Club with which we have had amazing success getting local youth to work and spend time with handicapped children in the community. We were recently awarded a grant to buy some digital camera equiptment to help with a sort of pen pal program we established using our english clubs and volunteers to eventually connect the handicapped children with classrooms in the US. The idea would be to expand this program to involve sponsors for the local disabled children. I have worked out some basic parameters with another organization that would help us (making things tax deductable and so on). The sponsors would be responsible for writing letters and contributing $200 a year. In return our volunteers would help the children send letters, pictures, and videos back to the sponsors. We are aiming to launch this in the summer. I just wanted to throw this idea out there and get a feel for the response. And also to possibly identify a person who would be interested in coordinating efforts in the US (sending out reminders for letters and possibly joint mailing to cut costs) If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on this please send me an email. hannonda@gmail.com
