HIV/ AIDS Conference

A few weeks ago I attended an HIV/AIDS conference. It was really interesting. Last year there was an outbreak to infants in a nearby city because of tainted blood transfusions. It was a horrible situation due to the fact that babies were HIV positive but also compounded due to the horrible stigma in this country. This conference was about educating against the many myths that exist about HIV/AIDS in Kazakhstan. It was a three day conference that started off sort of tense and awkward with our counterparts and their conservative culture. By the end however there were condom balloons floating around everywhere. We also played some killer games of capture the flag outside of our hotel.

Condom balloons: as American as apple pie. Way to rep your hood, Davey.
